A WOMAN has died after a suspected assault outside a fast food outlet.

The 51-year-old's body was discovered at a flat in Liberty House, Dublin 1, at approximately 7pm last night.

A Garda spokesman said the dead woman may have been involved in an assault outside a fast food outlet in Parnell Street at 3.20am on Sunday.

Gardai in Store Street are investigating and have appealed for witnesses to the incident or anyone with information to come forward.

The dead woman, named locally as Phyllis Black, was found dead by a relative who was concerned over her whereabouts when she had not made contact all day.

Gardai believe that in the early hours of Sunday morning, Ms Black got into a fight with another woman on the footpath outside a chip shop - where she either fell or got knocked to the ground and banged her head.

It is understood she went to the Mater Hospital, but left in a taxi before any treatment.

A Garda spokesman said investigating officers are anxious to speak to the other woman involved.

She is described as being in her 20s and wore a dark jacket, a black mini skirt or shorts with black tights and a sparkling, top possibly pink in colour. She was also carrying a black shoulder bag.
