Gardai are appealing for witnesses after an elderly driver was left in a serious condition following a collision on St Patrick’s Day.

Officers are seeking to trace a black coloured Mazda hatchback that fled after it collided with a Volkswagon polo car shortly after 7pm on Ballyowen Road in Lucan.

A partial registration plate of 07 LH 2xxx was recorded for the Mazda hatchback.

The male driver of a Volkswagon polo car suffered serious injuries when the two cars collided, and had to be taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown for treatment.

Gardai believe that a number of people may have witnessed the incident and have asked anyone with information to contact them at Dublin Castle on 01 6669800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800666111 or any local Garda Station.
