Gardai probe separate gun attacks on Dublin teenagers
A teenager was in a critical condition last night and a second was in hospital following two separate gun attacks in Dublin last Friday night.
In Clondalkin, a 19-year-old was found at 11pm in the front garden of a house at Shancastle Park with serious gun-shot injuries to the head. He was rushed to Connolly Hospital where gardai say he is 'critical'.
A matter of hours later, a second teenager was shot in the stomach in a gun attack in Ballymun. Shots were fired into a house on Barnwell Drive at 2.25am, striking the teenager in the abdomen.
The youth was rushed to the Mater Hospital where his injuries were said to be non-life threatening.
Gardai said yesterday that the attacks on the two teenagers were unconnected, and have launched separate investigations.
Superintendent John Gordon has appealed for witnesses to the shooting at Shancastle Park to come forward.
The area where the shooting occurred is close to the Liffey Valley Centre in West Dublin. Witnesses should contact Ronanstown Garda Station on 01 666 7700.
Gardai in Ballymun have asked witnesses to contact the local garda station at 01 666 1100.
