Gardai launch probe after badly decomposed body is found in derelict house
INVESTIGATIONS are underway after a badly decomposed body was discovered at a derelict house where it may have lain for several months.
Gardai do not suspect foul play in the death but a post-mortem will be carried out to establish the precise cause of death.
Gardai are keeping an open mind on the discovery but one of the options being considered is that a homeless person may have used the building for shelter but may have died suddenly.
The State Pathologist’s office has been informed and a post mortem will be carried out tomorrow to establish the sex, age and try to identify the person.
The body was discovered today at a derelict house at Royal Canal Bank West, Phibsboro in Dublin shortly after midday.
Gardai sealed off the scene for a forensics team to examine the interior of the derelict property.
