Gardai launch murder probe after woman and girl found dead
GARDAI are expected to launch a murder investigation after a young woman and a little girl were found dead in a house.
The bodies of a 27-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl were discovered at an address just outside Killorglin, Co Kerry.
Gardai said that there were "suspicious circumstances," but declined to reveal further details for operational reasons late last night.
They also declined to comment on local reports that the deceased were a mother and daughter.
The grim discovery was made at around 8.30pm yesterday in Langford Downs, a relatively new housing estate approximately half a mile outside the town.
Late last night the bodies remained at the scene. It is understood that there were signs that the two died violently. The women are believed to have come from Lithuania and had been living in Ireland for five years.
The house has been sealed off for a technical examination and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
The remains are likely to be removed to the morgue once the pathologist carries out an initial examination at the scene.
