Gardai launch murder investigation into death of James Cahillane in Kerry

GARDAI have launched a murder investigation into the death of James Cahillane in Kerry.

A fire destroyed his home at Ardraw, Beaufort, near Killorglin, last Thursday,

But while it was initially though the deceased died as a result of an accidental fire, Gardai said a post mortem revealed that he sustained injuries to his body and are now treating his death as suspicious.

Mr Cahillane spent last Wednesday night in Killorglin and returned home by taxi at midnight.

Gardai have appealed to witnesses who may have seen him to come forward.

Mr Cahillane lived alone.

He is the father of two adults.
