A 27-year-old pedestrian was killed this morning

Gardai are investigating three separate fatal road accidents in Limerick, Donegal and Mayo.

On the Ennis Road in Limerick this morning, at approximately 6:45am, a 27-year-old pedestrian was walking on the hard shoulder and was struck by a truck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver is not injured.

Separately, Gardai are investigating the death of an unidentified body involved in a single car collision in Mayo.

Emergency services found the car engulfed in flames after it swerved off the road at Cartoon, Newport, shortly before 1.30am this morning.

After extinguishing the flames, a body was found in the car.

It's unclear whether the deceased is male or female.

The Garda forensic collision investigators sealed off the area while they carried out an examination.

In another incident, a 22-month-old toddler was tragically killed as he was struck by a van driving into the driveway at his home in Letterkenny..

The boy was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital and later pronounced dead there. A Post Mortem examination will be carried out today.
