Gardai in Blanchardstown are tracking down the perpetrators of a daylight cash-in-transit robbery at the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre today.

At around 1.20pm a security man was servicing an ATM when he was struck in the back of the head by a male assailant who made off with a security box containing a significant amount of cash.

The raider made his escape from the scene in a dark coloured BMW that was being driven by a second male.

The security worker was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where his injuries are described as non-life threatening.

A technical examination of the scene has taken place and investigating Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
