Gardai investigate sudden death of Dublin teenager (18)

Gardai are investigating the sudden death of a popular teenager Ana Hick (18).

Ana was with friends when she collapsed outside a night club in Dublin's north inner city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 18-year-old, who recently graduated from Loreto College in Dalkey, died this evening at 5.30pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the Dun Laoghaire native was rushed to the Mater hospital where her condition deteriorated.

Gardai are now investigating her sudden death.

It is understood gardai are looking at a number of avenues in their investigation.

Gardai at Store Street are investigating and are treating the tragedy as a sudden death.

The cause of the tragedy has not been determined yet as a post mortem examination has yet to take place.

Toxicology tests will also be carried out.

One heartbroken friend paid tribute to "beautiful Ana" this evening.

"My beautiful Ana has lost her fight. You fought hard till the end and my heart is broken. I won't believe that I will not see you again because you will be in my heart always," the friend said on Facebook.

Another friend said: "Ana I'm so incredibly lucky to have had the pleasure of knowing such a determined, ambitious, fun loving girl!"

Ana, who had studied acting with film at the Irish Film Academy, was described by the friend as a "special" girl who was a "movie star".
