Gardai identify mother-of-one killed in Kerry
A 19-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of woman's body earlier today.
THE woman whose body was found outside the house she shared with her son in rural north Kerry has been named locally as Susan Dunne.
The separated mother of one, who was in her early 50s and originally from England, had been living in Co Kerry for a number years.
She was found by neighbours outside the council house at Ballinageragh, Lixnaw at around 9.30am.
It is understood her throat had been cut. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 19-year-old man arrested in Listowel a short time later is being detained at Listowel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The scene at Ballinageragh remains sealed off while members of the Garda Forensic Unit complete their examination.
Assistant state pathologist Dr Margot Bolster arrived at the scene at 5.30pm to make her preliminary examination.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ms Dunne had only been living in the Lixnaw area for the past two years and although she wasn't known well locally, she was very involved with the Kerry branch of Autism Ireland.
Anyone with information or who may have seen any unusual activity around Ballinageragh, Lixnaw, Co Kerry earlier this morning are asked to contact the Gardai in Listowel on 068 50820, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
Gardai are treating the death as suspicious.
At approximately 11.15am this morning, gardai in Listowel, Co Kerry, received a call that the woman's body had been discovered in a house at Ballinageragh, Lixnaw, Co Kerry.
