Gardai get secret film of creche probe staff
Gardai investigating the creche abuse scandal are examining extra footage handed in by the RTE unit which carried out an undercover expose.
Six complaints of abuse have so far been lodged with the gardai by parents whose children attended the creches at the centre of the investigation.
Gardai said last night that after the footage had been fully examined, they would determine if there were grounds for a full-scale criminal investigation.
If it went ahead, officers said, it was likely to concentrate on the possibility of minor assaults on the children and a file would then be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, who would determine if criminal charges should be brought.
The footage is being examined by gardai at Malahide, Dundrum and Wicklow and the inquiries are being co-ordinated by specialist officers from the Domestic Violence Unit in Harcourt Square in Dublin.
The creches at the centre of the controversy are Links in Malahide, north Dublin; Giraffe in Belarmine, Stepaside, south Dublin; and Little Harvard in Rathnew, Co Wicklow.
