Gardai get more time to quiz pair

Gardai were last night given further time to question two men arrested last week about an aggravated burglary.

Willie Creed (74) and his sisters Nora (72) and Chrissie (64) were left traumatised after the violent raid on their home at Ballyluddy, Pallasgreen, Co Limerick, on May 31. Gardai were given a further 24 hours to question a 28-year-old man and a further 72 hours to question a 27-year-old man.

US cyclist badly injured in crash

A cyclist was seriously injured yesterday and had to be airlifted to hospital after she was involved in a collision with a car in Co Clare.

The American woman, travelling as part of a cycling tour, had just left Doolin when the accident happened at around 1.45pm. The cyclist, who is understood to have neck and back injuries, was airlifted to University Hospital, Galway.
