Gardai discover body during search for missing student
OFFICERS in Cork searching for missing student Caolan Mulrooney have found a body.
The Garda team made the discovery of the body in a yard of a business premises near Douglas Street just south of the city centre this morning.
The 18-year-old UCC student from Rochestown has been missing since the early hours of Friday morning following a Christmas party with friends.
His distraught father had earlier praised around 400 volunteers, who helped in the search for his missing son.
Caolan was last seen at 1.20am near the Barrack Street area of the city after leaving Cubins night club and Mr Mulrooney said that examination of CCTV footage indicated that his son did not leave either end of Barrack Street.
He asked residents of the area and premises owners to check any possible locations that they may not have searched so far.
Divers from the Navy and Mallow Search and Rescue used sonar equipment to search several sections of the River Lee in the city.
