Gardai continue to question woman after stabbing in school grounds

GARDAI are continuing to question a 22-year-old woman in relation to the stabbing of another young woman in the grounds of a primary school.

The 23-year-old victim was rushed to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick in a critical condition following the assault in Ennis yesterday afternoon.

 

She is understood to be in a stable condition this morning and is due to be transferred to Cork University Hospital for further treatment.

 

Meanwhile a 22-year-old woman arrested following the stabbing at Station Road and Friar’s Walk area of Ennis remains in custody. She is being detained at Ennis Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

 

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses and anyone who was in the vicinity of Friar’s Walk, Station Road and the shopping centre carpark between 4.30pm and 5pm on Saturday to contact them at Ennis on 065 6848100, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111.
