A post mortem is due to be carried out later today on the body of a man found in a Tallaght house to determine what directions the garda investigation will go.

The man, believed to be in his mid 40s, was discovered at a rented house in Newhall Court just off the N81 Blessington Road at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The emergency services were called and neighbours said they saw paramedics and a fire engine at the scene.

The paramedics then notified gardai of the man’s death and the scene was preserved pending a technical examination.

This morning members of the garda technical bureau carried out a forensic examination of the scene.

There were no obvious signs of a break-in or forced entry, and it is unclear who contacted the emergency services.

A morgue ambulance then arrived and the man’s body was removed for post mortem.

Neighbour's said the man had lived at the house for a number of years with his partner and two children who are of school-going age.

He is originally from Lithuania.
