GARDAI are questioning the prime suspect in the hit-and-run death of Dublin teenager Conor Hickey early last month.
Officers who have been trying to track down the driver of the car that hit the 14-year-old last night arrested a 30-year-old man at Cloverhill jail.
He was on remand in the prison for a separate unrelated offence. He is being held in Mountjoy garda station.
The man, from Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, is being questioned about dangerous driving causing death.
Conor, from St Attracta Road in Cabra, was struck by a car at the junction of St Eithne Road and Fassaugh Road in Cabra about 5.40pm on Friday, December 2.
Conor was taken to Temple Street children's hospital where his life support machine was turned off the following day.
According to a garda source, the arrest follows weeks of painstaking CCTV footage being monitored. “The breakthrough came as a result of those investigations which were aided by CCTV and a huge amount of help from the local people of Cabra.”
