Gardai have arrested a 21-year-old in connection with a cash stealing device which was attached to an ATM machine in Greystones, Co Wicklow.
The device trapped the cash as it exited the machine with the customer believing the ATM was broken.
However, when the customer leaves the area the culprit returns and removes the device and cash.
The man was detained in Bray Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
He was later charged and bailed to a special sitting of Bray District Court on August 3.
Gardai have warned the public to be careful at ATMs and report any suspicious activity or irregularities to the them and the bank.
