Gardai appeal for witnesses of Cork post office robbery

Gardai are investigating a robbery at the High Street Post Office in Cork City today.

Two males wearing motorcycle helmets entered the building at approximately 9:20am this morning.

The pair threatened staff with a small hatchet and a claw hammer.

They caused ‘extensive damage’ to the post office and took a substantial amount of cash before leaving.

They escaped on a high-powered motorcycle which was parked nearby.

It was later found in the Ballincollig area.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been in the High Street area of Cork between 9am and 9:30am this morning.
