Gardai appeal for witnesses following hit-and-run which left young cyclist seriously injured

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a serious hit-and-run in Dublin which left a young cyclist seriously injured.

The collision occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 9 at around 12.45am on the Strand Road, Baldoyle

Gardai say a black Volvo travelling down the Strand Road in the direction of Main Street struck the male cyclist (26) who was cycling home from work.

The cyclist was taken to Beaumont Hospital and is being treated for serious leg injuries.

Gardai report the driver of the car fled the scene,  travelling along the Strand Road, Baldoyle and onto Main Street. The car then turned left onto Moyne Road and again turning left into the Castlemoyne Estate.

The car, with two blown front tyres, was then abandoned in the Castlemoyne Estate.

The car is described as a black Volvo S.40 model with a 2007 Dublin registration.
