Gardai and crimestoppers issue appeal over armed robbery at Dundalk Stadium

Crimestoppers have issued an appeal into an armed robbery of a man carrying a bookmakers satchel outside Dundalk Stadium in 2011.

On October 28, 2011 the victim was leaving Dundalk Stadium at around 9.15pm when he was appraoched by two men waearing balaclavas, one wielding an iron bar and the other a sawn-off shotgun.

He was pushed towards the armed assailants by two men he didn't see and had to surrender his holdall bag which contained a substantial amount of cash.

The bookmaker’s leather holdall bag was described as new, in good condition and black in colour.

A man in his 60s heard the commotion and chased away the armed robbers who retreated to a dark coloured car which they used to make their getaway using a back exit.

An appeal for information, in conjunction with Crimestoppers will take place this evening at Dundalk Race Course during the race meeting scheduled to take place from 5pm. to 10pm.

Uniform and Detective members will be present at the race course to give out leaflets and speak with any persons who may have information to pass onto An Garda Siochana.
