Gardaí warn public not to approach 'armed man' as they release description

Gardaí carrying out a manhunt in Tallaght, Dublin this morning for a man who is believed to be armed have advised the public not to approach him.

Gardai have also released a description of the man as well as information on a vehicle they are trying to locate.

Gardai say that the man is a white male of medium build.

They say that the man they are looking for is wearing grey shorts, a green and black Northface jacket and grey and navy runners.

They are also trying to locate a a black Renault Kadjar registered number 162 D 8767.

The public are being advised not to approach the man and if they do spot him, they are advised to contact Gardaí at Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000 or the emergency numbers 999 or 112.

Gardaí said the searches began following "a series of incidents in Tallaght".

They are currently carrying out searches of the area.

It is understood the searches were sparked after a series of incidents "which occurred within a short space of time" in the Jobstown area of Tallaght this morning.

Gardaí are asking the public to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01 6666 000 the emergency number 999 or 112 if they have any information or see anything suspicious.
