Gardaí probe claims shot fired in Waterville area
Gardaí in south Kerry are investigating reports of a shot being fired in the Waterville area.
The alleged incident is reported to have happened at two o’clock on Monday morning.
It's believed that a concerned tourist alerted the gardaí after they heard, what they believed to be, a gunshot.
Gardaí are not releasing anymore details on the incident and do not believe it is linked to the dramatic events at the Post Office in the Waterville area last week.
Two men from Killarney have been charged in connection to the robbery which left two gardai injured.
A garda source said that heightened local concerns, in the wake of events in Waterville, may have prompted the tourist to make the emergency call.
