A 14-year-old boy has died after a crash in rural Donegal yesterday evening.

Gardaí confirmed last night that the teenager was the sole occupant of the vehicle in the collision which took place in Redcastle, Co Donegal.

Fire services, gardaí and paramedics rushed to the single-vehicle collision at Tully Alley shortly before 6pm, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The location of the accident is in an area called Clare, located between Redcastle and Moville.

The boy's body was taken to the morgue in Letterkenny University Hospital last night.

Locals sources said the boy is the eldest of three children in a young family who are local to the area.

He had just completed second year at Moville Community College.

Garda forensic investigators will return to the scene this morning to carry out a forensic collision investigation.
