GARDAí are treating as suspicious the discovery of a body in the shower at a house in Nenagh.

It is understood the man's body was found soaked in blood in a bathroom in the house, which is located on McDonagh Street in the Tipperary town, at around 6pm.

A source said the man's body was discovered in the shower.

An ambulance crew was dispatched to the house, but the 36-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was produced dead at the scene.

The man's body was set to remain at the scene overnight as gardaí began a forensic examination.

The office of the State Pathologist has been informed and a preliminary examination of the man's body will take place at the scene before it is removed to University Hospital Limerick for a full post-mortem.

A garda spokesman said: "We are examining all aspects as to how the man may have died. It is being treated as a suspicious death at the moment."
