Garda investigation underway following shooting of man last night
A GARDA investigation is underway today following the shooting of a man last night.
The shooting occurred at 9.30pm last night in Drogheda, Co Louth.
It is believed that the injured man managed to make his way to a nearby shop on the Donore Road after the shooting, where he raised the alarm.
Gardai and the ambulance services arrived quickly on the scene to aid the man.
The man was shot in one leg in the incident which occurred in close proximity to the bus depot on the Donore Road.
The injured man was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.
He was described as being in a stable condition.
The injured man, who is aged 30, is understood to be living locally.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
