A woman garda sustained injuries to her neck and back yesterday after a car allegedly rammed her patrol vehicle in a head-on collision.
The garda, who was travelling in the unmarked car with a female colleague, was responding to a 999 emergency alert about a domestic dispute.
The gardai entered the Bru na Gruadan estate, Castletroy, Limerick, at around 1pm. When the officers came on the scene, a gold Rover collided head-on with their red Toyota Corolla.
Both gardai were treated for shock. One of the officers was treated for serious injuries to her neck and back.
A man who was travelling in the Rover vehicle is believed to have lost consciousness following the collision, but was in a stable condition last night.
