THE Garda commissioner, Martin Callinan, has admitted to being a fan of RTE crime drama Love/Hate.

However he refused to comment on the ongoing internal investigation into an undercover detective appearing on the show.

"I’m no different to the million plus viewers that looked at Love/Hate. I have a different reason perhaps for looking compared to others.” He told reporters at an event in Templemore earlier today.

"But it’s a drama, it’s obviously very successful. I have no difficulty at all with members of An Garda Siochana being part of dramatic societies and things of that nature.

"But there are issues surrounding this particular show and there’s a superintendent looking at those issues at the moment.

"It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to speak any further on that subject until such time the superintendent completes his business.”

The show’s fourth series concluded on Sunday with over a million people tuning in.

Many took to social media after the show to complain about its ending.
