Gardaí arrest man known to French victim of knife murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a French woman have arrested a man who was well known to her.

Anne Colomines (37) was stabbed to death at her home in Dorset Square, Dublin 1, last month. Her husband, Renato Gehlen (35), also suffered more than 30 knife wounds and was discovered with life-threatening injuries.

He was treated at the Mater Hospital for a number of days and underwent emergency surgery. Investigating detectives at Mountjoy Garda station yesterday arrested a man as part of the murder probe.

He was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held for up to 24 hours. This man was well-known to the victim and is the chief suspect in the murder.
