Gardaí arrest four men for 'conspiracy to murder', seize gun and silencer in Dublin's north inner city
Gardaí arrested four men in the capital this evening for conspiracy to murder.
The men, aged 23, 35, 37 and 38, were arrested in Dublin's north inner city.
Gardai from Special Crime Operations, assisted by the Emergency Response Unit and Armed Support Unit, carried out the arrests.
They also seized a gun and silencer at the scene.
The four men are being detained under the provisions of section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007.
The arrests have been called a "significant achievement."
Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll, who is responsible for Special Crime Operations, said the arrests were part of their "ongoing and unrelenting effort to tackle organised crime and, in particular, the total disregard for human life exhibited by the criminals involved."
