Garda appeal for witnesses to early morning attack which left man in 'serious' condition
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault on a man in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.
The incident occurred at the usually busy junction of Camden Street and Harrington Street.
The man (aged in his early twenties) was assaulted by another man (believed to be aged in his twenties also) at approximately 5.05am.
The injured man received serious head injuries.
Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and the man was brought to St James’s Hospital where his condition is being described as ’serious’.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.
The suspect is described as being in his twenties with black hair, a dark top and blue jeans.
He is reported to have ran in the direction of Wexford Street.
Gardai say they are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information.
They particularly wish to hear more from a number of people that gathered around to help the injured party as he lay on the footpath before the ambulance arrived.
Witnesses are asked to contact Kevin St on 01 6669400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
