Garda appeal following the deaths of Amy (25) and Laura (38) in three-vehicle crash

Gardaí are investigating a three vehicle fatal road traffic collision in which two young women were killed.

The incident occurred at Hiskinstown, Delvin, Co Westmeath on October 8.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses in particular anyone who may have been on the N52 between Delvin and Mullingar between 3pm and 3.30pm to contact them in Mullingar Garda station on 044 9384000,the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Amy Sheridan (25) from Ballinagh, Co Cavan, died at Mullingar Hospital shortly after the collision which happened at Hiskinstown, Delvin, Co Westmeath, at 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

Laura Ann Finucane (38), originally from Greystones, Co Wicklow, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in the same vehicle as Ms Sheridan.

The female driver of a second car, who was its only occupant, was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital. It us understood she remains in a serious condition.

The male truck driver was uninjured in the incident.

Funeral arrangements have been made for Ms Finucane, who is survived by her mother Pauline, sister Emma, her brother-in-law Rory, niece Erica and nephew Jake.

Her Mass has been scheduled to take place at 10.00am on Wednesday in the Church of the Holy Rosary, in Greystones.

Separately, Ms Sheridan has been described as a "beloved camogie player, friend and sister”.

Originally from Co Cavan, her local camogie club, Lacken Camogie, said it was with "great heartbreak" that they learned of her passing.

Her funeral Mass has been organised for St Michael's Church, Potahee, on Wednesday.

She has been survived by her parents Jim and Marie, brothers Garry and Shane, aunty Aiden and boyfriend Wes.

A 47-year-old tourist was also killed on the Shelbourne Road, in Dublin 4, on Sunday. He was struck by a car at around 12.25am.

He was treated by emergency services personnel but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Gardai have not yet specified the nationality of the man.
