A garda was rushed to hospital this morning after receiving a cut to his head after attending the scene of a stabbing in south Dublin.
At approximately 2.30am this morning, gardaí in Kimainham were called after a man (25) was stabbed in St Vincent's St West in Inchicore.
The injured man was lying on the ground and as the male suspect (24) tried to assault the man again, a garda intervened and was injured.
Both the injured man and the garda were rushed to St James's Hospital.
The garda has since been released and the other injured man remains in hospital.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4, of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Kilmainham Garda Station.
