A FILIPINO man was in intensive care in hospital with head injuries last night after he was attacked by a gang of six men as he returned home from a Halloween night out.
The victim and his two friends -- who are also from the Philippines -- were making their way home after socialising in Newbridge, Co Kildare, when they were set upon by the gang, who were part of a larger group.
Last night the victim, who is thought to have suffered a fractured skull, was in critical condition at Naas General Hospital.
The man was attacked shortly after 3am on Sunday as he walked along Standhouse Road, where he was kicked and punched by the gang.
No arrests have yet been made but gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact gardai at Newbridge on 045 440180, the garda confidential line, 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
