HORDES of enthusiastic children had their eyes on the ball as they played their way into the history books, breaking the record for the largest Gaelic football training session.

Dublin football star Jack McCaffrey led the charge as 1,500 kids took to the pitch at Clontarf GAA club, to trounce the previous record of 1,204, held by Roche Emmets in Dundalk, Co Louth. Aras Chluain Tarbh on Seafield Road, Dublin, played host to this momentous feat.

RTE sports presenter Damien O'Meara performed the master of ceremonies role.
