A GAA player is in a serious condition in a San Francisco hospital after suffering a head injury during a football game.
Mark McGovern (22) from Fermanagh was taken to hospital after an assault while playing for Ulster GAA club.
It was his first match for the club, which he had joined for the summer.
He had travelled to the US west coast with two Belcoo O’Rahilly’s team-mates, who also played in Saturday’s game.
McGovern parents have travelled to the US to be by their son’s bedside.
In a statement issued today the Fermanagh club stated: “Messages of support have been overwhelming but we would like to keep the three lads in our prayers and we hope Mark comes around shortly and he can make a full recovery,”
McGovern lined out for Fermanagh in this year's Dr McKenna Cup.
