Funeral of tragic drowning victim and 'loving father' Barry Ryan takes place
The funeral of a man who died while trying to save his son and his girlfriend in a tragic drowning incident takes place this morning.
Mr Barry Ryan (51) died in the triple tragedy which took place outside Baltimore Harbour in west Cork last Tuesday.
Mr Ryan was described as a ‘loving father’ and the family said he will be ‘sadly missed’.
The father-of-three was a member of the Penneys retail dynasty.
Mr Ryan’s funeral takes place at the Sacred Heart Church in Rath, Baltimore and he will be buried afterwards in Tullagh Cemetery, Baltimore.
The family have asked for donations, if desired, to be sent to the local RNLI.
The search continues today for Mr Ryan’s son, Mr Barry Davis Ryan, who is still missing following the incident.
