CORKONIANS will get a remarkable bird's-eye view of their beloved county thanks to a new book and an Independent News & Media (INM) sponsored photographic exhibition.

Aviation photographer Dennis Horgan launched 'The View From Above' at Cork Airport last night, where a special exhibit will take place in the main terminal building over Christmas.

INM Chairman Leslie Buckley and Academy Award-winning film producer David Puttnam officially launched the publication.

Mr Puttnam said the book represented a wonderful homage to Cork.

Mr Buckley said INM was delighted, along with the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), to be associated with such a stunning work.

As part of the launch, the Irish Independent is producing a limited edition selection of postcards based on some of the images.

These will be included with copies of the Irish Independent purchased in Cork from December 1-5 next.

'The View From Above' is published by the Collins Press at €24.99.
