A MAN has been arrested in connection with the deaths of two friends from suspected drug overdoses.

Michael Coleman and Liam Coffey were found dead in a downstairs room of a rented house in Kinsale, Co Cork, on Sunday morning.

Gardai are awaiting the results of toxicology tests are to determine the cause of deaths.

A man in his late 20s was arrested this afternoon and is being detained at Bandon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, a garda spokesman said.

He can be detained for up to 24 hours.

Two other men and a woman held in relation to the investigation were released yesterday. Files are being prepared for the director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Coleman, 22, from Dungarvan, recently moved to the Kinsale area with his girlfriend, a trainee teacher, and had started a job at Eli Lillis pharmaceuticals.

He will be buried tomorrow after his funeral mass at St Augustine's Church in Abbeyside.

Mr Coffey, 22, from Cappoquin, was visiting the the couple.

The two friends were found dead by Mr Coleman's girlfriend.
