Four-star hotel picks up top AA award
The Castleknock Hotel and Country Club has been named the AA Hotel of the Year, writes Allison Bray.
The AA inspectors were "hugely impressed" by the four-star hotel's "consistent standards of excellence, innovation, attention to detail and service to guests".
Other winners included Tankardstown House near Slane in Co Meath, which won the AA Guest Accommodation of the Year award, and the Hotel Westport in Co Mayo, which won the gong for AA Courtesy and Care.
Dublin's Shelbourne Hotel got the Red Star award for outstanding quality.
Meanwhile, La Brasserie at Oliver Dunne's Bon Appetit in Malahide, north Dublin, has scooped a Bib Gourmand.
The news emerged as Ireland's top restaurateurs anxiously await today's announcement of Michelin stars for excellence.
The Bib Gourmand is also awarded by Michelin for outlets offering good food at affordable prices.
