Four masked men rob 'substantial amount of jewellery' in armed raid

Four masked men entered a jewellery shop in Galway city centre this morning and threatened staff before leaving with a 'substantial amount of jewellery'.

Gardai in Galway are investigating the armed robbery at the shop on Shop Street. The men entered the premises at approximately 10.45am this morning.

One of the men was armed with what is described as a firearm.

They threatened staff and took a substantial amount of jewellery, gardai confirmed.

All four men fled on foot from the area and no injuries were sustained during the incident.

Gardai have since arrested four men in relation to the incident.

All property was recovered, as well as an imitation firearm.

All four men are currently detained at Galway Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
