Four injured in series of stabbings in Belfast

A policeman was among four people stabbed during a series of attacks in west Belfast.

Two other men and a women sustained injuries during the incidents last night.

A man has been arrested.

At around 10pm police received reports a man had been seen in Waterford Street with a stab wound to his neck.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Another man sustained what are believed to be serious stab wounds and was also taken to hospital, while a woman was stabbed and received treatment for a neck injury.

The policeman was stabbed in the left arm.

No further details about the assaults have been released.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
