Four held over death of suspect in brawl

TWO men and two women were being questioned last night by gardai investigating the fatal stabbing of a man who was wanted by English police in connection with a kidnapping, writes Tom Brady.

Jason Martin (39) was thought to have been hiding out here with Dublin criminals when he became involved in a vicious fight last September involving up to 20 people.

The confrontation took place outside the Plaza at Park West in west Dublin. Mr Martin was seriously wounded and died from his injuries in hospital.

Mr Martin, who was from Oldham in Greater Manchester, was wanted by UK police in connection with the abduction of a man who was later believed to have been killed.

Detectives yesterday detained four suspects. A man in his mid-30s was being questioned about the stabbing last night at Ballyfermot garda station.

Two women and a man were also arrested for allegedly withholding information about the murder. They were being questioned at Ballyfermot and Clondalkin stations.
