Former FAS boss Craig gets settlement worth €175,000 reporters

FORMER FAS corporate affairs director Greg Craig has settled with his former employer in the High Court and will get payments worth €125,000 plus €50,000 towards costs.

He had challenged his dismissal from the state agency claiming he had been made a scapegoat after an audit of FAS by accountancy firm Mazars.

Under the terms of the settlement, Mr Craig accepted his employment at the agency ended on September 5.

The payments include a termination fee of €75,000, which will be subject to tax, €35,000 relating to annual leave and €15,000 for general damages.

FAS will also pay €50,000, plus VAT, as a contribution to Mr Craig’s legal costs.

As part of the agreement, he has also agreed not to take up employment with the Minister for Social Protection or SOLAS.

And he consented to allow Mazars to release information it has relating to him to satisfy a Public Accounts Committee which had queried alleged inaccurate information given to it by FAS back in 2008.
