The Hairy Lemon pub was among four businesses served with closure orders in December, at the end of a year that saw the second highest ever number of enforcement actions for food safety breaches.
The popular Dublin pub was issued with a closure order applying only to its basement on December 17, although this was lifted two days later when the problems were rectified.
The kitchen and service of food at Redz Chinese Restaurant and takeaway was also issued with a closure order on December 4. That was also later lifted. Mary Merrit Bakery at Kilmacombe, Dunmore East, Waterford and Herterich & Sons Butchers cutting plant in Westport were also issued with closure orders.
Some 113 businesses were issued with enforcement orders during 2013.
A food franchise called the 'Lemon Cafe Bar' which operates on the fourth floor of the same building was thoroughly inspected by HSE and no issues were found.
