THE heartbroken family of a young woman who died in a road accident believe dense fog may have caused her to lose control of her car and crash into a field.

Ciara Brennan (pictured) died shortly before 11pm on Wednesday after her car left the road at Dunmahon in Dundalk, Co Louth, as she returned home after visiting a friend's house.

The 25-year-old, who was alone in the car, died instantly from her injuries.

Originally from Ard Na Mara in Blackrock, Co Louth, Ciara was living with her partner in Knockbridge and had worked as a nurse in the nearby Abbey Nursing home for the past five years.

"She loved taking care of the patients," a distraught relative told the Irish Independent last night.

Her funeral Mass will takes place tomorrow in Haggardstown.
