Flights from Dublin and Shannon to the US cancelled
ALL flights from Dublin Airport to Washington, Philadelphia and New York have been cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy and the destruction of the US east coast.
All four airlines operating transatlantic flights from Dublin - Aer Lingus, United Airlines, Delta and American Airlines - cancelled these flights, the Dublin Airport Authority confirmed.
There has been no decision yet taken on whether flights to Boston should also be cancelled.
The United Airlines flight to Newark in New York which was due to depart Shannon at 8am has also been cancelled.
The only other flight to have been cancelled at the airport so far is the British Airways London to New York (JFK) flight, which had not been due to pick up passengers at Shannon.
All flights from Shannon are expected to resume tomorrow.
London’s Heathrow Airport has cancelled a total of 84 flights to the US east coast.
Passengers are being asked to check the status of their flight online.
Flights to other US destinations have so far been unaffected.
