First Lady to stay in luxurious Princess Grace suite
PRINCESS Grace once stayed there and has a suite named in her honour.
Now America's First Lady, Michelle Obama, right, will stay in the same suite at Dublin's Shelbourne Hotel while her husband attends the G8 summit in Northern Ireland next month.
Mrs Obama is fulfilling a promise to return to Ireland with her daughters Malia (14) and Sasha (12) after her visit with the president two years ago.
The Shelbourne Hotel, which underwent an €83m refurbishment some years ago, declined to comment on reports that 30 rooms in the five star, 265-bedroom hotel have been booked for the visit of Mrs Obama and her entourage.
It is understood the First Lady will stay in the luxurious €2,500-a-night Princess Grace suite, which has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, while her girls will have adjoining suites.
Many of the hotel's 19 suites are named after well-known guests who have an association with the hotel. Apart from Princess Grace, others are named after John F Kennedy, Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera.
When she was here two years ago, Mrs Obama visited Dublin as well as her husband's ancestral home in Moneygall, Co Offaly, and there has been speculation that she may return to Moneygall on her visit here next month.
