Fire safety inspires budding artists
Some of Dublin's youngest artists have been showcasing their talents to help raise awareness of fire safety during the festive season.
More than 2,600 children aged between five and 12 from 76 schools across the capital submitted their entries for the annual Fire Brigade calendar.
And the 12 judged talented enough to be displayed in the calendar were unveiled yesterday.
Chief fire officer Hugh O'Neill praised the talented winners and said it was important to highlight the fire hazards faced at home during Christmas.
"I think they were of a very high standard," Mr O'Neill said.
"It's very interesting to see how children perceive fire and it is important to raise awareness."
