Fire officers urge safe celebration
EMERGENCY personnel have issued warnings ahead of this week's Halloween celebrations.
The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) has said that fire crews across Ireland responded to over 500 bonfire related incidents last year.
CFOA chairman Seamus Murphy said: "I would like people to be aware of the fire safety hazards that arise from illegal bonfires, where highly combustible materials may lead to serious injuries or death."
Meanwhile, the Irish Fire & Emergency Services Association (IFESA) warned of the danger of fireworks.
A spokesman said: "Illegal fireworks or homemade fireworks can and do cause injury to people often resulting in life changing injuries... and the IFESA points out the need for close adult supervision of all fireworks activities."
