Fine Gael couple's joy at birth of second child
FINE Gael TD Joe McHugh rushed from the maternity ward to the Dail and back again yesterday.
The party's Laois-Offaly TD, Olwyn Enright, Mr McHugh's wife, gave birth to the couple's second child yesterday.
Aedin, a baby girl, weighed in at seven pounds, four ounces at 10:20am at Portiuncula Hospital in Co Galway. Ms Enright was in the Dail until last week but was due to give birth this week. The TD is retiring at the next General Election.
Mr McHugh, the Fine Gael TD for Donegal North-East, brought his wife to the hospital, just a half-hour from her home in Birr, Co Offaly, at 1:30am on Tuesday night.
Following the birth of his daughter, Mr McHugh went back to Dublin to vote against the Government's motion on the IMF-EU bailout.
